Lumera has reached a major milestone.
With the 1.8.5 release, some of the most anticipated upgrades in the project’s history are now live: SuperNodes are running on mainnet, Cascade — our decentralized permanent storage module — is available for everyone, and the Lumera SuperNode Program is officially open.
This release represents months of work across the core blockchain, IBC, CosmWasm, governance, and devnet infrastructure. But for the community, the message is simple: Lumera is now fully operational as a decentralized service network, and the future is in your hands.
SuperNodes Are Here
SuperNodes are the backbone of Lumera’s ecosystem. Unlike standard validator nodes, they power key modules:
- Cascade: Permanent, decentralized storage
- Sense: AI-driven content verification
- Inference: On-chain AI/LLM compute
SuperNodes perform high-demand computation and storage tasks that ordinary validators cannot. In return, operators earn 98% of the service fees generated by users and applications interacting with these modules.
With 1.8.5 live, SuperNodes are officially running on mainnet, and the network is ready to start supporting real applications.
Cascade Is Live
Cascade, Lumera’s permanent storage solution, is now accessible to everyone on mainnet.
Here’s why it matters:
- Pay once, store permanently: Data is encoded, sharded, and distributed across SuperNodes.
- Self-healing network: Shards are automatically restored if a node goes offline, guaranteeing durability.
- Real-world use cases: NFT permanence, Web3 gaming assets, AI datasets, cross-chain proofs, and more.
Developers, creators, and protocols can now start storing data on Cascade using our SDKs and gateway infrastructure, opening a new world of possibilities for Web3 applications.
Try Cascade on Testnet
Want to see Cascade in action before mainnet? You can try it out on testnet through Lumera Hub.
On testnet, you can:
- Store data temporarily and see how shards are distributed across SuperNodes
- Explore encoding and redundancy mechanisms
- Experiment with integration for NFTs, datasets, and other Web3 assets
Testing on Lumera Hub is a great way to get hands-on experience with Cascade and understand how it works before running or interacting with live SuperNodes on mainnet.
The SuperNode Program Is Open
The Lumera SuperNode Program is officially accepting applications starting December 19, 2025. Approved participants will be onboarded in cohorts beginning January 5, 2026, once LEP-4, our on-chain health monitoring system, is live.
The program is designed to:
- Support new operators with a Foundation delegation of 25,000 LUME
- Ensure network reliability with phased onboarding
- Monitor SuperNode health through LEP-4’s automated metrics and compliance checks
Running a SuperNode is an opportunity to earn revenue, support the network, and play an active role in shaping Lumera’s future.
What This Means for the Community
The 1.8.5 release unlocks the full Lumera vision:
- A robust decentralized storage network powered by community-run nodes
- AI and content verification built directly into the blockchain
- Economic incentives for node operators
- Open access for developers and projects without relying on centralized providers
This is more than an upgrade — it’s the activation of Lumera’s core infrastructure.
What’s Next
With SuperNodes live and Cascade available, the next steps include:
- Launching dashboards, analytics, and SDKs for Cascade
- Onboarding the first cohort of SuperNode operators in January
- Collaborating with ecosystem partners to bring new applications online
Lumera is now ready to power the next generation of Web3, AI, and decentralized applications and the community is at the heart of it.

Welcome to Lumera.
About Lumera Protocol
Lumera Protocol is a high-performance blockchain purpose-built for AI-driven Web3 economies, integrating a Validator-SuperNode architecture to enable decentralized AI services, trustless computation, and secure data storage. Built on cometBFT Proof-of-Stake (PoS), Lumera ensures cross-chain compatibility, efficient AI data sharing, and scalable interoperability.
At its core, Lumera’s SuperNode-powered infrastructure extends beyond validation to support LLM hosting, autonomous agents, task verification, and cross-network communication, with governance driven by a stake-weighted system. Its adaptive tokenomics dynamically adjust inflation based on network participation, ensuring economic sustainability.
Lumera also introduces an Action & Agent Framework, powering decentralized AI services through specialized Actions (e.g., Cascade for storage, Sense for verification) and Agents (e.g., Inference for AI computation). By merging AI, decentralized computation, and blockchain security, Lumera sets a new standard for AI-powered applications and autonomous services in Web3.
